Locked out

So today we were running a little late for church. As we were heading out the door, I thought I saw Kip grab the keys and put them in his pocket so I didn't bother grabbing my set. I locked up and headed to the car to see Kip and the kids waiting to get in. I quickly realized that Kip thought I grabbed the keys and vice versus. I called up the property manager, who rarely hears from us because we give him no trouble, and he is going to charge us $40 bucks just to bring down a copy of the key and let us in. I couldn't believe it. We tried the owner of the property, who lives downstairs from us, and to no avail, no key. We decided to see if Kip could crawl through the window about the door and luckily he fit. In the mean time I was calling all of my friends who were sitting in sacrament meeting hoping that their phones were at least on vibrate. No one answered probably due to a talk given a couple of Sundays ago about not answering phones in church and keeping them turned off. But what happens if you are in a great emergency and the only people you have to turn to (considering all your other friends and family are across the ocean) are the members of your ward and it is on Sunday?!? I guess you are S.O.L. I was pretty frustrated. But looking back a couple of hours later, I guess it could be humorous. I was pretty lucky I had snacks and a sippy cup with me for little ladies. Here's Kip crawling through the window, even though I was pretty irritated, it did make me laugh.

Misc. Pictures

I decided to download some pictures from our phone, there are some pretty funny ones on here. Jenna trying on helmets while Kip was shopping for a new one. We went to the park and I wanted to see if two babys could fit in the babyswing and they did. I was so funny, Maylani is sitting one of my friends little baby and she loved it, she said "weee" the whole time I was pushing them. Kip hung Jenna up by her pants in Old Navy's dressing room.

While we were at the Pali lookout the other day Kip took pictures of the girls. I didn't realize how cute they turned out until I was downloading the pictures on the computer and I decided to share.

New Year Eve happenings...

Today we went out as a family and went site seeing. We first went to the Pali lookout. We have talked about taking Jenna there and finally got around to doing it. We don't usually go on the Pali highway often. After that we hung out at the Ala Moana mall and went to an awsome dinner filled with steak, Alaskan king crab, ribs, and of course Kip and Jenna's favorite, sushi. I highly recommend this place, don't remember the name of it though. After dinner we drove to a park by our house and lit off fireworks. The whole island had a visibility of about 6 miles. There is so much smoke in the air. New Year's is celebrated more here than the 4th of July, haven't figured that one out yet. In the middle of light off fireworks it started to rain so we packed up and headed to the base at 10pm for Kip to check in, he has to report if he is gone from work for more than 3 days without leave to make sure the guys don't go a-wall.

Maylani was excited to see all her presents.If you look closely at Jenna's pictures you'll see rock tumbler in one and a necklace kit in the other. Which translates into a seven weeks of hearing rocks tumble and 10,000 beads all over the house. Isn't that awesome?! Also we decided to take the new car off-roading, that is the only thing we haven't tested yet. In one of the pictures the back-left tire is completely off of the ground. before we came to a full stop we were teetering there, bouncing between the front right tire and the back left all the while Missy is yelling at me so I had to get out and take a picture.

Winter Pics

So I notice on a couple of my friends and families blogs that they had post pictures of fall. I got a little envious and wanted to show some pictures of winter in Hawaii. (HEY TYRA: do those mittens...I mean "hand warmers" look familiar?) Well this picture could actually be true if we had shipped our car to the big island. But it was actually taken 3 years ago 10 minutes away from Saguaro lake, no I did not do a typo...there was some crazy snow storm and snow on the ground not too far from Saguaro Lake on the beeline. Here is an actual picture of winter here. The only difference is that it rains a little bit more in the winter and North Shore gets about 60 foot waves. Other than that, it is paradise all year round. Well, I did find another picture of what winter looks like here. When we get a good heavy rain, water will run off the top of the Ko'olau mountains down the crevices creating a ton of waterfalls. It is absolutely breathtaking.

Out with the Old and in with the New

The other day we decided to take a drive and show Jenna the Pali lookout. We missed the turnoff for it and ended up heading to town to go test drive the newest KIA that was just put a couple of months ago. Kip and I already have a KIA Sorento and absolutly love it, have had it for almost 4 years without a single problem. Plus it comes with an awesome warranty and good gas mileage along with a 5 star crash rating. So needless to say, we traded in our Nissan Titan...I know...Kip has been wanting one for sometime and finally got one. But with the gas prices so crazy, we lost value in our truck faster than the norm and hardly drove it in the two years we had it. I assure that it was Kip's decision to trade it the Titan since it was his truck. Out with the Titan and hello Borrego. We are now proud owners of two KIAs. Our new one seats 7 and has almost the same amount of horse power in it's V-6 engine as the Titan did in it's V-8. Come to find out, we are the only ones so far to own a Borrego on the island. I was pretty excited about that! Of course, when the other two sell, that won't be the case anymore.
