I discovered some interesting pictures on my camera the other day. Jenna had apparently snagged it while we weren't looking and took some pics of herself and Maylani. I figured out why I didn't notice that she had the camera because I found one of myself talking on the phone.

Fast Food

What a sneaky and conniving business, fast food. It has been my vice, I admit, I am a fast food junkie. It is so convenient for us to be to able to run around the island with errands and not once have to stop off at home to grab something to eat. Anything I want is at my disposal from the comfort of my own window. All I have to do is, with a flick of my wrist, roll down my window and simply speak my order. Which, by the way, consist of hundreds of calories, salt, grease, you name it. I have been addicted for years. It is easier to appease the kids with it, or to take the easy way out and not cook dinner. I have become an ever increasing donator to the grease factories that line the streets. Now, my body has taken the toll of indulgence for too long and is screaming with red lights flashing, stop! Thanks to fast food, I have an autoimmune disorder. Yes, that is right, almost worse than cancer, it kills you slowly, is decades old and they just have come up with a cure. I wish I could just turn liberal for one second and really place all my blame on fast food for my bulging diseased body. But in all reality, I am not, and will take responsibility for my actions. I have been recently told my doctor that I have right now to start making some serious life changes. Now, not the next couple of years to think about it, NOW. Not to alarm any or you, I am not dying anytime soon. But if I keep up horrible eating habits, my health will rapidly deteriorate. So, this may not mean much to any of you, but I am glad to say that I have been fast food free for a measly two weeks. I have also been given strict orders to stick to the low glycemic food list and stay completely away from any and all forms of starch for the next three months. So far, that order has proven to be a harder challenge for me. But with much effort and support from Kip, we have been making alot of cauliflower mashed potatoes, egg plant Parmesan and a ton of cabbage (I know, I could do better with variety). To keep me on a straight path, my doctor wants follow up visits with full reports on my success every two weeks. Might as well while we still have good insurance. This may have been a boring novel to some of you but that's what is going on in my life right now.

Book Review

Stephanie recommended this book on her website and of course they were sold out for a while. I finally ordered a copy on Amazon. I thought it was interesting, it caught my attention long enough to finish it in a day and a half. It's not that long of a book, almost 400 pages. So if you want a quick and intriguing read, this one is good. The second book comes out in September.

Coraline

We usually really enjoy Tim Burton's strange humor in his movies. We especially enjoy his movies paired up with Danny Elfman doing the score. Coraline, to me, was a dissapointment. Yes it was similar to all the other typical Burton movies, except this time it was a little creepy. And I did not like the score, it was not done by the above mentioned. Who knows, I still might end up buying it, Jenna loved it.

Forrest Gump: Lieutenant Dan, what are you doing here?

Forrest Gump: Lieutenant Dan, what are you doing here? Lieutenant Daniel Taylor: I'm here to try out my sea legs. Forrest Gump: But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan. Well Lt. Dan found his sea legs and some how made all the way across the Pacific to Oahu Hawaii. For those who don't know, he has a band called Lt. Dan's Band. They do a bunch of cover songs. They performed for free for the military on the marine corp base Friday night and also on the Air Force base at Hickam Saturday night. Unfortunately Kip had to work so I went with a friend and her family. We had a great time. They did a couple of Fougerty songs, a couple Hendrix and one Led Zeppelin (of course no one can imitate those awesome guitar solos like Jimmy Page). The kids had a blast dancing the whole time to the music.

LIfe in Paradise

So it looks like that it is pretty certain we will be here till next January. So those of you lolly gagging around about coming out better hurry up, we will be here no later. Then off to the mainland we will go. We will find out in July whether we will be going to our next base or palace chase.
